Our Hens

IMG_5588.JPG

Our Focus

We support a lifestyle for our hens where conditions allow for their natural behaviour, while providing the best quality of life for them. We care about animals just as much as you do, ensuring quality over quantity, where the lifestyle of our hens come first. We are currently working towards becoming certified organic and certified humane.

Pasture Raised

Pasture raised implies our hens are allowed to freely roam the farm during the day, while they return to their houses at night to sleep. Enabling them to eat their natural foods while consuming our feed when desired.

Pasture Raised Vs. Free Range

Free range hens have access to the outdoors while roaming up to 2 square feet of acres per bird, while pasture raised hens are given 108 square feet of space outdoors, per bird outdoors; both stated on The Certified Humane website. Our hens can freely roam the acreage daily when desired, as their coupe doors are always open.

Our Yolks

Yolk colour is dependant on the hens food consumption. Our eggs have a rich and darker yolk due to the diversity in their diets. From eating their natural foods such as plants and bugs to eating our high end feed of Purina Gold'n Layena and Purinature Layena. Our feed is natural and contains Omega 3, Vitamin A and E supplements.
